Literature Text

Elna, Joey and Terra left the city with the supplies that they purchased and walked for hours to the grassy plains where Lyon, Tavin, Rae, Stefano and Ling had already begun construction.  Trees from the forest had been cut down and carved into planks.  Pitch was mixed from plant resin and used to caulk the seam of the planks.  The skeleton of the ark was slowly but surely taking shape.
As everyone continued work on the ark, no one noticed that Gaston and Lefou had followed them all the way from the city.
“Gaston, look!” Lefou shouted as he pointed to the Ark.
“Shh!” Gaston said as he covered Lefou’s mouth.  “That old fool and his family don’t know we’re here.”
“Wait till Garrosh gets a look at this.”
“I say we sabotage this ark before we show him anything.”
“But Gaston, Garrosh said…”
“First, I want show up that old liger.  Add a little injury before the big insult.”
“Ah, you’re very clever, Gaston.”
“I know.”
As the two were talking, Tavin was chopping down another tree for planks.
“Timber!” Tavin called out.
Gaston and Lefou look up and saw the shadow of a tall tree forming over them.  Lefou casually stepped to the side as the tree came crashing down on Gaston.  Tavin grabbed the tree and began hauling it away, exposing a Gaston-shaped hole in the ground.
“Hey, Gaston!” Lefou said as he walked up to the hole.  Gaston poked his head out of the hole as little tiny birds chirped and flapped in a circle around his head.  Lefou held up his hand with two fingers exposed in front of Gaston’s face.  “How many fingers am I holding up?”
“What’s a Gaston?” Gaston asked in a dazed expression.
After a quick recovery, Gaston and Lefou quietly followed Tavin closer to site of the Ark.
“I got more wood for the ark, father.” Tavin called out to Lyon.
“Very good, Tavin,” Lyon replied.  “Just set it aside for now.”
Tavin didn’t see Gaston sneaking up right behind him when he tossed the tree backwards, which once again landed on top of elegantly egotist.  His arms and legs were sticking out from underneath the trunk.  As Tavin went back into the woods, Lefou grabbed Gaston by his arm and yanked him out from underneath the tree.  Gaston was now more two-dimensional than before.
“Talk about being turned down ‘flat’” Lefou chuckled.
The following day, after Gaston was uncompressed, he and Lefou had returned to the site where construction of the Ark had progressed even more.   They moved in closer to where they were inside the almost finished skeleton of the ark.  Stefano was on the second deck and was carrying some buckets of pitch to wield the planks in place.  He almost lost his footing and accidently spilled some drops of pitch.
“Stefano, my love, please be more careful,” said Ling
“Don’t-a worry, my dear,” Stefano replied.  “I will be very-a careful.”
One of the buckets accidently slipped from Stefano’s grip and a big blob of pitch splattered all over Gaston and Lefou.  The two idiots were now stuck together.  They tried to pull each other in opposite directions to get the pitch off.  They pulled harder and harder till their heard a ripping sound.  They managed to get unstuck, but now they were both exposed in their underwear.
“Um…Happy Birthday to us?” Lefou said, cracking an embarrassed smile.  Gaston just shot him an angry glare.
The next day, Gaston and Lefou returned once again with fresh new clothes covering their body.  They see that even more progess on the Ark has been made.  The hull is starting for form around the skeleton.
“We’re running out of time, Lefou,” said Gaston.  “Let’s just grabs a couple of hammers and smash that thing down.”
“You got it, big guy,” Lefou replied.
While Lyon and his family were having a lunch break, Gaston and Lefou ran to the Ark and grabbed a couple of large hammers that were left lying around.  While Gaston manages to lift his hammer with ease, Lefou is struggling to hold his up since it is much bigger than him.  Lefou spits in his hands and grabs a tight hold of the handle of his large hammer.
“One…two…THREE!”  Lefou succeeds in lifting his hammer up, but the weight of it causes it to lean the other way.  Gaston winds up and is about to bash his hammer into the wooden hull of the Ark when Lefou’s hammer falls hard right on his foot.
“YEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!”  Gaston shouted at the top of his lungs.
From a short distance away, Lyon and his family are enjoying their lunch when they hear Gaston’s loud, painful cry.
“A little early for the coyotes to be out, isn’t it?” asked Rae.
Back at the Ark, Lefou is now sporting a nasty black eye as he tries a second time to lift the heavy hammer.  Gaston is a safer distance way as Lefou lifts up his hammer and swings it around to get a motion going.  He swings it a little too hard on the last round, causing the head of the hammer to go flying off of its handle and knocks Gaston right out of his boots.  At the same time, Lefou brings his now headless hammer handle around for a fast, hard swing right into the wooden hull.  The impact makes Lefou shake and levitate backwards until he trips over some plywood and lands in a puddle of mud.
The day that followed after that incident, Lyon’s family was nearing completion of the ark.  The left side of the hull was all put into place, and the rooms inside the ark were also finished being built.  All that remained was the rest of the right side of the hull and roof.   As before, Gaston and Lefou were back again to make another attempt to ruin the Ark.  They see Joey and Tavin cutting a tree into more wooden planks.
“I’ll go after the tall one with the wings,” said Gaston, “and you grab the shorter one with the bad hair style.”
“Okay, Gaston.” Lefou replied.
The two goons snuck up behind Joey and Tavin, ready to grab them.  Joey hears the sound of Rae’s voice calling for him, and suddenly turns to respond.  Lefou is smacked in the head with the wooden plank and falls down.  Tavin turns around, accidently hitting Gaston as well.
“Hey, did you hear something, Joey?” Tavin asked.
“I don’t think so, Tav,” Joey replied.
“For moment, I felt like we were being followed.”
Gaston and Lefou stood back up, looking dazed and dizzy.  Tavin and Joey turned back around, accidently hitting Gaston and Lefou a second time as the two idiots bonked their heads into each other and passed out.
A short while later, Gaston and Lefou woke up.  They see Elna mixing up some more pitch.  Gaston then looks off to the side and sees a long strand of rope.  He gets a devilish idea as he grabs the rope and makes a lasso out of it.  He spins the lasso and tosses it, but Elna moves at the last minute and the rope ends up getting tied around Abigail the goat.
Furious at being roped, Abigail runs around as Gaston is being dragged by his sorry butt all over the place.  His head bangs against every rock and tree stump that the goat passes.   After a minute of dragging Gaston around, Abigail finally stops running as she comes to a sliding halt.  Gaston is launched high into the air and comes down fast, landing in Abigail’s water trough.  Lefou runs up as Gaston is getting himself out.
“So, how did it go?” Lefou asked with a chuckled.  Gaston, annoyed with his deputy’s question, bops him on the head.
That evening, the family was putting on the finishing touches as the Ark was completed.
“The last plank is in place, father,” said Joey as he handed Lyon his mallet.  “The honor to hammer the last peg in place is all yours.”
“Thank you, my son,” Lyon responded as he accepted the mallet, “and thank you all, my family, for all your hard work and dedication to help me.  This great Ark, commanded by the almighty Shao-Hao and built by the hands of this family, I hereby announce complete!”
Lyon slams the last peg into the ark and tosses the mallet into the air just as everyone cheers.
“I’ll make that fool pay, Lefou,” said Gaston as he and Lefou watching from a bush. “Make no mistake about that.”
The mallet that Lyon had tossed into the air comes falling right on top of Gaston’s head.  Gaston passed out and fell flat on his back.
“Hmph!  I knew we should have just brought Garrosh here to see the ark,” said Lefou with his arms crossed.  He then shrugged it off and picked up the mallet.  “Oh well, see ya in the morning.”  Then in a comical fashion, the little buffoon conked himself in the head and passed out in the bush right next to Gaston.
